Kapiti Crescent Road in South B Ward will have its name changed in honour of Kadenge, who passed away in dismal circumstances.
Following the motion's passing, the implementation committee will have to right to the county executive communicating the approved motion.
South B MCA Waithera Chege spoke on Tuesday, February 23, where she said renaming the road was the least the assembly could do for a football star regarded as one of the best the country had ever seen.
Chege, who doubles up as majority whip, also noted that several roads and landmarks in the country had been named after national heroes, and it was fair for Kadenge to be recognised as one.
'This assembly resolves that the Nairobi County Government renames Kapiti Crescent Road in Nairobi South Ward to Joe Kadenge Crescent Road in honour of the football icon who was a resident of Nairobi South area and was regarded as the finest footballer to ever grace the country's football scene as evident in his valiant efforts in guiding Harambee Stars to win the inaugural East and Central Africa Challenge Cup,' Chege said.
Kadenge, as TUKO.co.ke reported, passed away at the Meridian Hospital in Nairobi after a long battle with stroke in 2019.
He was 84 years at the time of his death.
At the time, the veteran footballer's son Rodgers Kadenge revealed that his father had not been the same since his daughter Eva Kadenge Hoskin's death.
Despite his glittery footballing stint, Kadenge's sunset years have not been the most beautiful as he was wasting away from the limelight before he went viral with an urgent plea to see President Uhuru Kenyatta in 2017.

'I would like to meet you before I die. It seems my body doesn't like me anymore, and these are the people I would like to meet. I want to say goodbye to them so that if God calls me today, I would have had an opportunity to say goodbye to them,' was Kadenge's plea two years ago.
Uhuru heard his call, and the two finally met.
